Angela is a workplace relations consultant. She is a lawyer with over 20 years’ experience as an
employment and industrial law specialist. Angela has a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor
of Laws (Hons) from the University of Queensland. She holds a current practicing certificate
as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland. She is also a nationally accredited mediator.

WORKPLACE INVESTIGATIONS

Angela conducts workplace investigations with a keen eye for detail, a solid knowledge of the law and a commitment to procedural fairness. She is regularly engaged by law firms to investigate matters on behalf of their clients. She is also directly engaged by employers. Angela investigates matters including corrupt conduct, fraud, bullying, sexual harassment and misconduct.


WORKPLACE TRAINING

Angela provides tailored workplace training on matters such as workplace bullying, harassment and discrimination/Code of Conduct, conducting workplace investigations, and best practice performance management.


MEDIATIONS

Angela is a nationally accredited mediator. She accepts engagements for mediations referred by employers and law firms, including in matters where a court has directed that mediation occur. She has a friendly and professional approach to parties in mediation.
 


INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS CONSULTANCY AND PROJECT WORK

Angela has provided short-term and ongoing in-house support to employers to boost internal capability. This may be employee relations support on day-to-day matters, or providing support on major projects.


FACILITATED MEETINGS AND NEGOTIATIONS

Angela conducts facilitated discussions, meetings and negotiations to resolve workplace disputes, and in other matters where an independent facilitator is useful to assist the parties to communicate.

Experience

Since establishing her consultancy practice in 2015, Angela’s work has included:

  • Workplace investigations for private sector and government clients

  • Mediations of workplace disputes, fractured working relationships, and general protections claims (court ordered)

  • Facilitated meetings, including resolving roster disputes

  • Facilitation of enterprise bargaining negotiations between a state government department and a union, using an interest-based bargaining approach

  • Supporting a large private sector company by providing in-house employee relations services, such as management of discrimination complaints, misconduct, performance management and ill and injured employee matters

  • Short-term relief for a law firm in their workplace relations team

  • Code of Conduct and complaints management training for a Queensland government department

  • Conducting workplace culture reviews for large and small employers

Prior to commencing her consultancy business, Angela was a Special Counsel in the Brisbane office of a leading Australian law firm, specialising in workplace relations law. Angela has previously held positions in a top-tier national law firm, government agencies both in Australia and London, and in a boutique firm specialising in employee and union employment law.

She has worked extensively with state and local government agencies, and she understands the unique environment, legal framework and demands of these clients.
